MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

Introduction

Welcome to our mentorship program! In the comments here, users who wish to become mentors can sign up, and users who wish to become mentees can request a mentor as well. Before signing up to become a mentor or a mentee, please read this full page.

How it Works

Experienced coders/users will sign up by messaging an Administrator. If they meet the requirements, they will become Mentors. Following that, our staff team will add them to this article with information on what types of coding they specialize in, how active they are, etc. Users who wish to become mentees will then message a mentor about what they want to learn/how the mentor could provide help. Mentors will then instruct their mentees in the best way they can. They can do this through any form of communication. Mentorship doesn't just have to be about coding, it can also just be about editing, running a wiki, and FANDOM education in general.
Mentorship programs can last any length from a few days to a month. Please let your mentor know how much commitment you wish to put into this.

Requirements

Here are the requirements mentors must meet:

  • 100+ Edits
  • 3 months+ on the wiki
  • Advanced knowledge in one of the following categories, or moderate knowledge in two: CSS, HTML, WikiText, JS, Python.
  • No recent history of blocks/warnings
  • Edits/Contributes/Posts at least once a week
  • Has a good attitude and is kind to users

How to Apply

If you want to become a mentor, please fill out the following form on an Administrators MessageWall:

  • What is your main account? If you prefer a nickname, what is it?
  • How many edits do you have?
  • How long have you been on this Wiki?
  • What are your pronouns?
  • How active are you? Are you taking mentees currently? How many mentees will you take, max?
  • What do you specialize in?
  • How should your mentees contact you?
  • How much wiki experience do you have? Coding, administration, etc.
  • Why should you get this position? You may also provide recommendations (users who can vouch for you) if you feel the need.

We will accept up to around 10-12 mentors, with a first-come-first-serve policy. We may decline forms if they do not meet the requirements, or even in some cases when they do.

If you want to become a mentee, please fill out the following form on the message wall of the Mentor you wish to have:

  • What is your main account? If you prefer a nickname, what is it?
  • What are your pronouns?
  • What do you want to learn? Be specific.
  • How much FANDOM experience do you have? Coding, administration, etc.
  • How much time/effort do you want to put into this mentorship?
  • How do you want to learn this? Blogs, messages, resourced links, etc.
  • Is there a specific mentor you would like to have?

Mentors reserve the right to deny a form if they are full or they cannot teach you. If this happens, please request a different mentor!
