The Myth Makers is a novella written by Donald Cotton. Released in 1985, it is a novelization of Cotton's Doctor Who serial of the same name.

Long, long ago on the great plains of Asia Minor, two mighty armies faced each other in mortal combat. The armies were the Greeks and the Trojans and the prize they were fighting for was Helen, the most beautiful woman in the world.
To the Greeks it seemed that the city of Troy was impregnable and only a miracle could bring them success.
And then help comes to them in a most unexpected way as a strange blue box materialises close to their camp, bringing with it the First Doctor, Steven and Vicki, who soon find themselves caught up in the irreversible tide of history and legend...

- Keith Topping's novel Byzantium! implies that the Doctor is at least partially aware of Vicki's fate before it happens.
- The "Jewels of Cressida" are mentioned in Jackie Marshall's short story Past Reckoning.
- The Prologue to Philip Purser-Hallard's Faction Paradox novel Of the City of the Saved... features a resurrected "Cressida". "Hélène of Troy" later appears in Blair Bidmead's City of the Saved short story Happily Ever After is a High-Risk Strategy.
