Stephen Marley is an author and video game designer. Marley is best known for his Chia Black Dragon and Judge Dredd novels, along with his work on the video game Martin Gothic: Unification.

Life[]

In the Contributors section of the Faction Paradox anthology Burning with Optimism's Flames, Marley claims that he "came it existence fully formed from the head of Zeus in Walsall in 1813. He was one of the founders of the Rapscallion Club, but after he was found to be connected to the Scarlet Bloomers in 1851 he was transported to Van Diemen's Land. Years later, he became an inventor, and he moved to New York in 1921". This (somewhat obviously) is a facetious introduction, though it shows Marley's writing style.

Marley was born in Derby, England to Irish parents and was educated in Derby and Nottingham. His academic career included Social Anthropology, Sociology of Science, and ancient Chinese science (which helped influence the Chia Black Dragon series) before he left the academic field to write full-time in 1985.

Writing style[]

Marley's work features a darkly comedic/madcap writing style. Warping of history into strange contortions is common.
