Lawrence Miles (1972-) is an author. Miles is best known for his work within Doctor Who and being the founder of the Faction Paradox series.

Writing style[]

Miles is an extreme fan of Doctor Who - having written a massive series (the About Time series) analyzing most (if not all) of the television series with Tat Wood and writing several novels for various Doctor Who ranges.

Many of Miles' works involve re-workings of the standard Doctor Who canon (the Interference duology) and/or resurrection of oft-forgotten bits of Doctor Who canon (Alien Bodies). Miles is not afraid to dabble in non-conventional prose styles, with The Adventuress of Henrietta Street being styled like a nonfiction historical work.

A notable theme within Miles' works is a somewhat anarchistic theme - most notably in The Judgement of Solomon:

In the story, Solomon allowed the existence of only those sciences that maintained the status quo. After all, he used a kind of science to build new weapons, claiming they were blessed by the One True God. Not Allah, as Bernice had thought when the brass man had told her the story. The One True God was the God of control, the God of Politicians. The God of Politics itself.
