Publisher's summary[]
"I love her," the Doctor said.
"Of course you do, she's your daughter."
Earth in the nineteen-eighties is a battleground. Rival alien factions have travelled from the far future to pursue their vendetta.
With UFOs filling the skies, a giant robot stalking the Derbyshire hills, and alien hunters searching for the mysterious Last One, the Doctor is the only man who can protect the innocents caught in the crossfire.
But old scores are being settled, the fate of a Galactic Empire is at stake, and, against his will, the Doctor is drawn into a decade-long war that will strike at those he holds most dear.
The Doctor has lost his memory, his friends, his past and his TARDIS.
All he has now is the love of his daughter.
But will even that be taken from him?
In-universe continuity[]
- The Doctor has visions of his upcoming adventures. These visions line up with Kate Orman's The Year of Intelligent Tigers, Mark Clapham's Hope, Trevor Baxendale's Eater of Wasps, Jonathan Morris' Anachrophobia, Lance Parkin's Trading Futures, Lawrence Miles' The Adventuress of Henrietta Street, Jacqueline Rayner's EarthWorld, and Simon Bucher-Jones and Kelly Hale's Grimm Reality.
- While speaking of his previous voyages to Miranda, the Doctor vaguely mentions The Web Planet, The Happiness Patrol, and Paul Magrs' novel The Scarlet Empress.
- Ferran mentions some of the Doctor's (for Earth) recent adventures. These include trips to Baghdad (seen in Lawrence Miles' Interference duology), the Lloyds building (seen in David A. McIntee's novel Bullet Time), the Martin invasion (seen in Parkin's novel The Dying Days), and the Kulan invasion (seen in Colin Brake's novel Escape Velocity).
- The Doctor has a vision of himself watching Earth's dying sun alongside the Doctor from Parkin's novel The Infinity Doctors.
- In Daniel Blythe's Autonomy, the Doctor mentions visiting the Berlin Wall twice.
- The Doctor visits the daughter of Reverend Stobbold from Justin Richard's novel The Burning.
- Debbie sees a picture of the Doctor in Stalingrad. Presumably, this was taken during the events of Terrance Dicks' novel Endgame.
- The Doctor uses a Martian greeting first seen in Gary Russell's novel Legacy.
