The Chronicles of Barsetshire is a series written by Anthony Trollope. Started in 1855 (with Trollope's The Warden), the series ended in 1867 (with Trollope's The Last Chronicle of Barset). The novels in the series are tied together by being set in the fictional English countryside of Barsetshire (and specifically its cathedral town of Barchester) and its societal atmosphere.
Throughout the Victorian era, the Chronicles were Trollope's most well-known and popular works and are considered his magnum opus by many critics.
