Publisher’s summary[]
Jason and Rachel were not born in Lyrian. They did not grow up in Lyrian. But after all of the battles and losses, the triumphs and adventures, and most of all, the friendships forged in this fantastical world, Lyrian has become home to them in a way they never could have imagined.
And so, armed now with the prophecy of a dying oracle, they have gone on their separate quests—each surrounded by brave and powerful allies—knowing that the chance for success is slim. But Jason and Rachel are ready at last to become the heroes Lyrian needs, no matter the cost.
Packed with thrills, action, and drama, this third and final installment of Brandon Mull's #1 bestselling Beyonders trilogy brings the series to a gripping conclusion.
Full summary[]
Both leading separate quests, Jason and Rachel seek to destroy Maldor by following the prophecy of the oracle.
Rachel, Galloran, Nedwin, Tark, Ferrin, Nollin, and Io take back Trensicourt to gain warriors for their attack on Felrook. They march to Felrook, gaining warriors from the drinlings and Amar Kabal, waiting for Jason to send information through Ferrin’s ear. Rachel secretly sneaks into Felrook and rallies the Torivors against Maldor. Meanwhile, Jason, Corinne, Aram, Farfalee, and Jasher, steal an Interceptor in Durna and defeat the Maumet at the Windbreak Island to gain access to the Celestiline Library. In search of Darian the Seer, whom the late oracle said has important information, they then crossed the Scalding Caverns and the Narrow Way.
Drake died killing a torivor that had come for Jason. Nedwin was left to protect Trensicourt from conspiring lords while Galloran was away, and died to kill Copernum. Jasher, Farfalee, and Nia were killed by the wanderer, leaving Jason, Corinne, and Aram alive. Corinne plants Jasher and Farfalee's seeds, while Jason uncovers the secret to destroy Maldor. Tark and Ferrin sacrifice themselves to destroy Felrook using the underwater orantium mine.
Many years later, as required by Darian’s prophecy, Rachel goes back to the beyond and Jason stays in Lyrian.
