Konjaku Monogatarishū (or Anthology of Tales from the Past) is a collection of short stories. Compiled during the later years of the Heian period, the Konjaku collects various tales from Japan, India, and China. Only 28 of the 31 volumes of the Konjaku are known to still exist.
