For those who don't know what Books of the Month is, or who need a refresher, Books of the Month is a chance to submit a favourite book or series of yours for recognition and a chance to be featured on our wiki! To be eligible for consideration, the book should have its own dedicated page on the Wiki, complete with a substantial write-up of over 300 words. This ensures that our fellow book lovers can dive deep into your favourite books and learn exactly why you adore it.

Here's how you can participate:

Nomination: Reply to this post with your nomination for May's featured books. Let us know the title, author, and a brief explanation of why you believe it deserves a spot in the limelight.

Wiki Page: Ensure that the book you're nominating has a dedicated page on the Wiki, containing a well-crafted description of the book, its themes, and characters. Remember, the page should be substantial, exceeding 300 words.

Deadline: Kindly submit your nominations by May 3rd. This will give us ample time to review and prepare the selections for the community.

Every single user on this wiki is incredible and irreplaceable. We would not be here, doing this, without you. You do not need to be a Power User to help out the wiki. You can report rule breaking content with the Report button under the three dots on the right side of a post. You can also help add pages and content to articles around the wiki!

// Demotion

You may or may not know, one of our much-loved Bureaucrat and Administrator unfortunately stepped down recently. Moonwatcher x Qibli (aka DigitalKandra/DK) demoted himself after a conflict which occurred across two wikis. DK's account was compromised, and has been globally unblocked and absloved from any sort of vandalism. DK has been with us since the very beginning and helped improve the wiki in many different ways, setting up and coding the Mediawiki, filters, etc. However, DK "no longer feel[s] welcome here." We are unsure of how the wiki will fare without one of our main Theme Designer, Coder and Bureaucrat, but rest assured, please contact staff with any questions, concerns or suggestions.

We're sure you've all seen some changes recently on the wiki, namely with the staff. After careful deliberation, we, the staff, have decided to reopen Power User applications! We're currently focusing on looking for a Thread Moderator, but we will accept all applications.

Requirements for becoming a Power User:

If you're applying for a Thread Moderator position, we'd prefer you to have at least 1000 posts.

If you're applying for a Content Moderator / Rollback position, we'd prefer you to have at least 500 edits.

If you're applying for an Administrator position, we'd prefer you to have at least 500 edits and 1000 posts.

We are aware that this may be difficult to achieve, or serve as a roadblock for newer users, and as such, we are willing to be flexible, given the right circumstances. We will not, however, do so unless the user checks all the boxes for being a responsible, competent, decisive user and Power User. We are also aware we have staff members who have not yet met these requirements. They were promoted before these rules were put in place, and they have proven to be competent staff, time and time again, and are working towards achieving these goals.

Staff applications will close 31st January.

All users should also be aware that past applications have been cleared so that we can get the most current information about all of you. If you've filed it out before now, you'll need to re-apply.

//8000 Byte Page deletion//

As of the 31st of January, pages with less than 8000 bytes will be deleted. This is regardless of quality, but moreover the fact that they are copied. It is pointless to have articles with copied content. Please do not copy and paste information from other wikis or websites. It is fine to use other sources as long as they are mentioned on the page, and not word for word.

However, this Page deletion is still subject to change.

As a Content Moderator, I've been looking through the pages recently, and have noticed some pages that are not books or book-related, such as a page I've just deleted, about the country Bolivia.

This is a wiki about books, and non-book related pages should not be created. I will continue to delete non-book related pages. If you are creating these pages, you will not be immediately penalized, but if you continue to do so, myself, another Content Moderator, or an Administrator may contact you with a warning. Please keep the pages on topic.

Did you know today marks the one year anniversary of this wiki? I just wanted to thank you all so much for embarking on this journey over the past year with me. It’s insane how much this wiki has grown. I know I never expected it to turn into the beautiful place it is now, and I’m sure Cedar and Yam would agree.

This wiki started as a small late-night idea. Cedar and Yam were (and still are!) some of my best online friends, so naturally I wanted to see if they were interested in creating a wiki with all of us. They agreed, and bit by bit we grew the wiki, first inviting anyone and everyone we could think of, while creating pages.

Some people I’d like to mention in particular for being here since the start are:

@Fakesucculent - Yam, can you believe it’s been over a year since my ‘am I intimidating?’ poll on the KotLC wiki? I am so grateful to know you and be your friend. Who would’ve guessed that we’d become friends when you were intimidated by me? I’m so thankful for everything you’ve done. Thank you so much.

@The Dreamland Terminal - Cedar, thank you so, so much for everything you’ve done in the past year. It’s been a hectic year, but I’m so glad to have been your friend this whole time. Thanks for everything you have done, and as the one of the founders of the wiki, that’s something special.

@Moonwatcher x Qibli - DK, I can’t believe you have been here all this time. You were the first mod on the wiki, and you have contributed greatly since then, becoming admin in February this year. It’s been so long since we met on the KotLC wiki last year, but I’ve enjoyed knowing you for this whole year. Thank you so much for everything.

Hello fellow literature enthusiasts, today I’m here to announce some important information regarding moderator promotions and demotions.

We, the staff, have had a lot of changes going on behind the scenes recently. First of all, our wonderful content moderator, Jas, @StellarJasmine , has stepped down from being a moderator. We love you, Jas, and we're so grateful for all the time you've been a content moderator with us.

We also have an Administrator stepping down. Cedar, @The Dreamland Terminal , has decided to step down. Cedar, we're so glad you've been with us for so long, since the start of this wiki in fact, and we're so grateful for all that you've done to contribute to the wiki.

Additionally, as you may or may not know, Yam, @Fakesucculent , was demoted a few weeks ago from Administrator. Yam had lost access to her account, and decided it was in her and the wiki's best interests to be demoted. Thank you for your contributions to this wiki, as you too have been here since the start.

While we have no plans for new Administrators any time soon, we're pleased to announce that, to fill Jas's role, Claire @Reader121 has been promoted to Content Moderator! We're so excited for you to be on our team, Claire.

Fakesucculent has been here from the very start of the Wiki, but as many of you have likely noticed, she's not really active. Not enough to moderate anyway.

So, we, the Wiki Staff, have decided to hold a community vote.

Please comment on this post with either "Demote" or "Keep". "Keep" means you wish for Fakesucculent to be kept on as a Bureaucrat, and "Demote" means you wish for Fakesucculent to be fully demoted to user status.

You may also include any reasoning you have as to why we should do what you wish.

Please note the following information:

• Fakesucculent has been on this Wiki longer than almost any of us, approximately 312 days.

• Fakesucculent is very rarely active. She comes on and edits/posts occasionally.

• She has an edit count of 61. Main: 21, User: 20, File: 10, MediaWiki: 4, Template: 6 (See: Special:Editcount/Fakesucculent).

• Her post count is 1,056.

• She is unable to access her account as of late

• The general reason for this is that we believe we don't need 6 Bureaucrats.

Content Requirement: All pages on The Book Lovers Wiki must contain a minimum of 8,000 bytes of meaningful content. Meaningful content is defined as information, analysis, or insights relevant to the topic at hand. It is essential to ensure that the information presented contributes to the collective knowledge and understanding of the book-related topics featured on our wiki.

Page Deletion Policy:

• Pages with Less Than 8,000 Bytes of Meaningful Content: In three months from today, any page that does not meet the 8,000-byte requirement of meaningful content will be subject to deletion.

• Pages with the Required Amount of Bytes But No Meaningful Content: Pages that meet the byte requirement but lack meaningful content will also be deleted.

We understand that wiki contributors may require additional time to expand and enhance their pages to meet these criteria. To assist our dedicated contributors, we are introducing the following option:

Page Migration to User Profiles:

1. If a user wishes to continue working on a page that does not meet the required 8,000 bytes after the three-month period, they may contact an Administrator.

2. The Administrator will then assist by moving the page to a subpage of the user's profile, allowing for ongoing work and expansion.

3. Once the user has improved the page to meet the 8,000-byte requirement with meaningful content, they may republish it under the original page name, ensuring that the community can benefit from the enhanced content.

Language Policy:

• Remember, the use of a language other than English is forbidden on our wiki, as we are not equipped to moderate languages other than English. We aim to provide a consistent and accessible experience for all our users, and this policy helps maintain clarity and understanding across the entire wiki.

• On Wiki articles, the sticky navigation has been replaced with an image, but unfortunately, this change is currently only visible in Fandom Desktop view.

• Galleries have been updated to feature a slight border around each image and are now evenly spaced. These changes have been made to enhance organization and improve overall visibility.

• Images on message walls now have a maximum size of 700px. This adjustment prevents the issue of excessive upscaling that previously led to significant blurriness.

What are some fonts you use often in your templates? The Staff noticed importing so many fonts to the wiki makes the wiki slower, so I asked (as a coder myself) if we could add back some popular fonts.
