Heyyy it's MikachuTheKrayZ aka Mika. I changed my user lolol. Anyways, wsp? I know I left the wiki, but I wrote more stories and felt like sharing them, if you guys remember from before. And like I said in my leaving post, it was bc I needed to manage my time more irl. Well, I think I am able to manage it now so I feel confident in coming back to Fandom.
This is also probably gonna become my short stories thread bc I don't wanna spam post, even though it's probably not gonna be often
Winning a badminton game
[Vocab (bc it uses badminton terms that most people don't know)
Birdie: AKA a shuttlecock. The object being hit over the net
Types of shots: Clears- high and far/kinda like a long rainbow, Drives- low and far/kinda a straight shot, Smash- low and down/literally smashing the birdie over the net, Drops- Low and short/the birdie literally drops over the net
Scoring: The first to get to 21 is the winner
Doubles lines: It's like the outside lines on the tennis courts. These only apply when playing doubles, as the name implies. When playing singles, it counts as out
Alright, let the story beginnnn]
“19-12,” Adelina yelled above the cheering teams sitting on either side of the court. She served the birdie. Her opponent, Adelina believed her name to be Marty, returned the birdie long. Adelina backed up and hit the birdie in a drive. The birdie went over the net, but hit the double lines. The teams screamed, and Adelina breathed a sigh. She was tired. She was sore. She felt sick. She wanted to throw up and collapse on the court. But not yet. She can’t give up this game. She made it to the third set, and might as well finish it. She got into position as Marty picked up the birdie and walked over to the serving line.
“13-19,” Marty announced. She served. Adeline flicked the birdie in a clear and ran back to the middle of the court, not prepared for when Marty dropped it over the net.
“Gah-” Adeline swung her racket around herself, disappointed she missed that point. The teams cheered again. She picked up the birdie and handed it over to Marty. As Adelina was walking to her position, she watched her boyfriend, who was sitting criss-cross among her other teammates. She turned back to face her opponent, determined to get the next few points.
“14-19,” Marty served again. Adeline cleared it back again, then moved to the middle again. This time, Marty cleared it back. Adelina back-peddled, trying to race the birdie. The birdie going too fast for her, she reached up her racket in an attempt to hit it from behind her. It hit the net.
Adelina dragged her feet to her position, once again. And once again, Marty was serving. “15-19,” she said as she hit the birdie over the net. Adelina cleared it again, then ran to the middle, trying to prepare for anything. Marty cleared it again, but it only went to the middle of the court. This gave Adelina the opportunity to smash it cross-court, where Marty was not able to reach it in time. Adelina was able to hear her team’s cheers above everyone else, getting hyped up about the smash. This renewed her spirit.
Marty tossed the birdie over the net, and Adelina caught it. She walked over to the serving line, “20-15”. She served it. Marty returned it. Adelina hit it back. There was a swift rally with lots of running back and forth. Adelina was feeling exhausted, and needed to find a way to end this point.
Marty cleared it above Adelina’s head, and Adelina’s thoughts started swarming. All this running just to miss the point. I should’ve backed up as soon as I hit it. I need to find the open spaces. The birdie fell behind her, and she turned to watch it. It hit out. A sense of relief washed over her as she lifted her racket to signal that it was out. She picked up the birdie and walked over to Marty, where they fist-bumped over the net. Adelina handed the birdie to Marty and walked off the court, unprepared for her team to attack her with hugs. One of her teammates held up a phone, recording the whole thing. Her teammates backed up and cleared a spot for her to walk throught, where her coaches congratulated her. Once her coaches left, her boyfriend came up and wrapped her in a hug. Adelina’s reaction time was a little delayed, so she stood there for a second. Which gave her boyfriend enough time to kiss her on the head. Adelina smiled and leaned her head on his shoulder, absorbing the hug, ignoring when her teammates squealed, “I got that on camera!”
“I’m proud of you,” he said, then let go of her. Adeline exhaled in a playful-tired way and walked over to the bench where their stuff was at so she could put her stuff away.
